Cha Wenbin looked down at his left hand and said, "But I really haven't practiced any ghostly arts, or what you call witchcraft. Are you sure this hand of mine is a backlash from witchcraft?"
"Yes, I can sense that you have the aura of our clan's witchcraft on you. Although it is still weak, it has already begun to erode your body."
"Is this sorcery something that only the successive high priests of your place know?"
"We have been guarding the sacred mountain behind us for generations. It is said that a long time ago, there was a tribe that escaped from here, taking away some things belonging to the Qiang people and also taking away the tribal chief who was still in his infancy. Therefore, we do not have a tribal chief now, and I, as the high priest, temporarily exercise the power of the tribal chief."
Then they were taken away from the tent, and a sumptuous dinner was already prepared for them outside.
The Qiang people are very hospitable, they prepared fine wine, a kind of local liquor brewed with highland barley. On the fire was roasting a fragrant and oily mutton with golden dripping oil.
Yun Dashou arranged for Cha Wenbin and himself to sit together, while the others formed a circle around the fire pit in the middle.
Many boys and girls, wearing masks woven from feathers, danced the most primitive dance, singing out beautiful and high-pitched melodies with their unique plateau voices. They used animal tendons as strings, large pieces of cowhide as drums, and held various animal bones to collide with each other, serving as accompaniment for the banquet.
Although they didn't share a common language, liquor was the best means of communication among men. Heng Roulian not only had impressive physical strength but also an extraordinary capacity for alcohol; the man he had knocked to the ground earlier was still competing with him at the dinner table, and the two were drinking directly from a simple clay jug, as if they had known each other for years.
It's just that Lao Dao and his men only symbolically raised their bowls; as an excellent soldier, a clear mind at all times is what matters most.
Cha Wenbin and Yundashi explained their intentions, they came here to find an ancient relic, now it seems that the so-called Divine Mountain is likely to be the one.
The great priest Yun said that as long as they could enter, he would not stop them, just like their ancestors allowed a man with the surname Chang to enter years ago. They believed that this divine mountain would only allow people with fate to come out alive.
There was still one more thing, which had always been a heart disease for Cha Wenbin. Taking this opportunity, he said: "Today I found that the waist card on the strong man's body is engraved with a character. I would like to ask Cloud Dajisi if this is the text used by our clan?"
After getting a positive response from the Grand Master of the Cloud, Cha Wenbin was overjoyed. He immediately spread out a piece of paper, dipped his brush in red cinnabar and transcribed the 72 characters that had been etched in his mind, even mimicking the original handwriting, before presenting it to the Grand Master.
The high priest took it over and looked at it by the firelight, narrowing his eyes as he asked: "Where did you get this thing from?"
Zha Wenbin then told the story of how this thing came from the General's Temple to the High Priest, who listened with some incredulity and exclaimed: "The people of Zhongyuan have actually reached such a divine level in their use of witchcraft. That person was able to walk out alive is truly a blessing."
Yun Da Jisi hastily returned to his own house with Cha Wenbin, and according to the text on the manuscript, he translated it into Chinese without missing a single word and wrote it on a sheepskin scroll, which was handed over to Cha Wenbin.
The Grand Priest Yun said excitedly, "Every generation of our Grand Priests has been reading these Taoist scriptures from the Central Plains to purify their souls that have been eroded, but no one has ever thought of combining this witchcraft with Taoism. This person has actually done it, no wonder he can walk out alive."
Cha Wenbin took a look at the sheepskin scroll, and in the text, there were many familiar Taoist cultivation methods, as well as some that he had never seen before. The text detailed the application of this Taoist method and the interpretation of the most profound ghost script among the Taoist talismans.
That night, the two sat and talked, a wizard who was proficient in magic and the master of the Taoist sect finally completely deciphered the true text of this "Ru Yi Ce".
On the desk of Yun Da Jisi, there were many books on Chinese Taoist thought, including Laozi's "Tao Te Ching" and the classic book that contains all the knowledge about later Taoist theories, known as the "first of all classics, the source of the Great Way", the "I Ching".
As early as 5,000 years ago, Fu Xi painted the eight trigrams and created the sixty-four hexagrams. Fu Xi drew the eight trigrams based on natural phenomena. At that time, Fu Xi discovered many secrets of the universe, but they were not recorded in writing and were lost. Until the time of King Wen of Zhou, King Wen revealed the secrets discovered by Fu Xi. After King Wen thoroughly understood the secrets of the eight trigrams, he found that they contained the secrets of the universe and all the principles and principles related to human life. Later, King Wen created the Book of Changes, using the hexagrams and line statements of the sixty-four hexagrams to record the sixty-four great principles that exist in the universe, which were passed down to future generations.
Another is Laozi, who in Taoism is revered as the true god Tai Shang Lao Jun. He is said to be a descendant of Peng Zu. In the Yang Jia year of the Shang Dynasty, he was divinely conceived by the essence of God, and Laozi was conceived in the womb of Li Shi, daughter of Xuan Miao Wang.
According to their inference, if Kunlun Xianren is taken as the origin of everything, then this is the birthplace of the first generation of Chinese mythological figures, which was about five years ago.
Three thousand years ago, a tribe migrated from here and eventually reached the Sichuan Plain, forming a new ethnic group. This ethnicity was later established as the ancient Shu state by Can Cong and Yufu Wang, thus opening the second chapter of Chinese mythological history in the Shu Mountains. From then on, there were no more legendary stories about this nation, because it was eventually destroyed by Qin during the Warring States period.
Peng Zu was the great-grandson of Zhuanxu, one of the Five Emperors in ancient times. According to legend, he lived for 800 years and was listed as a celestial being by Taoism. Emperor Zhuanxu unified the branch that migrated outward, the Qiangdi, Can Cong, and Yu Fu Wang were also his descendants, which means that Emperor Zhuanxu is very likely to be the tribal chief who was taken away from here.
Taoism is established on the basis of its own theory, with the "I Ching" and Laozi's "Tao Te Ching" as its foundation. It absorbed Taoist thought but also had differences. In the end, this religion that was established based on Taoist thought came to be called Taoism.
But Wen Bin considers it the most primitive form of Taoism, because at that time Taoism was still a religion that spread and propagated theoretical knowledge, and had not yet evolved into various talismans, schools of thought, and arrays that exist today. At that time, it should also have lacked the ability to communicate with spirits.
In that mythical era, only the Qiang tribe's shamanism possessed supernatural powers!
According to the interpretation of the Grand Priest of Yun, their witchcraft mainly has the following skills:
The first is Qi and blood: can make the injured person recover as soon as possible within a certain period, mainly used to treat diseases and injuries, this point is fully reflected in the three-legged toad, its greatest skill is that it can make the injured person heal in a short time.
Yun Da Jisi said that according to records, there was indeed a divine beast on this mountain in the past that had such abilities, but it was taken away by someone during the tribal division and now it seems to have been brought to Qi Feng Mountain!
The second is Ling Hui: In ancient times, the combination of power and wisdom could dominate the fate of others. Ling Hui was also a great priest, his wisdom was supreme, he could summon the wind and rain, and had a leading position in the tribe.
Here is the translation:
In this case, the great priest is just the cloud opposite Zhang Wenbin, and in Sichuan it's that golden mask!
This point, the cloud Grand Priest and that golden mask are different. Perhaps they are the origin of God here, with enough animals to sacrifice themselves, while the branch in Sichuan had to force people of their own kind to sacrifice their lives to worship their gods.
The third is pre-thinking: using the best men or women of their own ethnic group as seeds, training their predictive ability, somewhat like a prophetic feeling, used to judge the direction of the future, mainly weather, harvest and so on.
The last one is the soul-capturing technique: similar to Daoist priests like Cha Wenbin, but skilled in death techniques, with the ability to revive the dead and capture souls. There are also immortal spells that can make people live forever. However, each time the soul-capturing technique is performed, the high priest must pay a terrible price, and the so-called immortality is just living a little longer.
Cha Wenbin said that these witchcraft and the Taoist school he is studying now are very close, because the Taoist thought: corresponds to the use of spells to heal diseases, which is to drive out evil spirits, then it is to pray for rain and blessings, another one is to calculate the fate and fortune-telling, although Cha Wenbin dare not say that he can bring people back to life, but the Taoists have another skill which is to communicate with those invisible things.
The two of them suddenly realized that this ancient witchcraft was the prototype of Taoist magic used by Zhaowen Bin now. It's just that Taoism has a more complete theoretical thought and academic system.
Zha Wenbin drew some of his commonly used talismans for Yun Dazong to see, among which many characters that even Zha Wenbin himself could not understand were proven one by one to be from this ancient Qiang culture.
At this point, a true source of Taoism has been fully revealed before them.
That Mr. Chang, based on their calculations, should have come here between 2,500 and 3,000 years ago, bringing with him a large number of Zhongtu Taoist thoughts and classics. In exchange, the Grand Priest here taught him the ancient Qiang tribe's witchcraft, allowing him to successfully leave this first generation mythological birthplace.
After that, this common surname person began to try to combine this witchcraft with Taoist thought, gradually giving Taoism its most primitive form: at this time, Taoism had its own theoretical system and corresponding practice.
However, because the tribal chief, who was also the king of the tribe, had fled, some higher sorcery that was still in the king's hands had not been passed down, until many years later, a genius appeared on Mount Qi.
The tribes that migrated out found that only using witchcraft could not complete rebirth and immortality, so a Taoist apprentice used the five elements yin-yang and eight trigrams to help them fulfill this wish, and should have obtained more advanced witchcraft methods, thereby creating the true book now in front of them, "The Book of Wishes".
A line of seventy-two characters, the things implied in it seem to have grasped everything in the world. Just translating the text is probably enough to spend a lifetime deciphering its meaning!
