Volume 2 – Understanding Of Death

Nier's crimson eyes flickered, his massive form looming over the blood-soaked warehouse floor.

El knelt before him, her tear-streaked face illuminated by the dim, flickering lights, her hands still stained with Alle's blood.

  Her broken pleas.

  "Save her… I'll do anything."

Still hung in the air, mingling with the distant wail of police sirens. Beside her, Alle's ghostly form shimmered, a faint, translucent echo of the girl she had been, her silver eyes wide with desperation as she offered her soul to spare her sister.

The weight of their grief and the warehouse's oppressive negativity pressed against Nier, feeding Mnemosyne Brand that pulsed on his chest.

He could feel both there hope and despair, the hope born from the despair of each other.

  "How beautiful, truly delicious."

Nier said to himself, as he passively absorbs it.

He then tilted his head, considering the offer. Faith… souls… offerings, he mused, the idea of exploiting El's devotion or Alle's soul sparking a calcuting glint in his gaze.

But to revive the dead? That was no small feat, even for a being like him, or maybe it was, still Nier has no idea just how powerful the authority he has truly is.

So in an attempts to help the two, his mind reached.

  'Silence.'

He mentally call to the Will of Unlimited.

'Help me make a spell to revive the dead.'

At Nier's question, his body reacted instinctively, a shiver rippling through his monstrous form.

His metallic feathers, sharp as bdes and glinting like polished obsidian, parted with a soft, grating rasp. Beneath them, his flesh transformed, thick, draconic scales, more akin to a dinosaur's rugged hide, all began peeling back to reveal soft, vulnerable skin.

Pulsing veins of white Gaian energy glowed faintly against his bck, almost liquid-like flesh, writhing like living serpents within his bodily confines.

The scales parted further, exposing more of the tender underyer, where the veins formed incomprehensible patterns, runes or words shimmering with an ancient, alien script that seemed to hum with otherworldly power.

To any onlooker, the symbols were gibberish, indecipherable chaos. But Nier understood them instinctively, as Silence said.

[It can be done, Master. Necromancy spells however all of them are extremely expensive to create given you are tampering with one of the most powerful immutable w itself, by defying death embrace is like waging war against the very w of it, there is a reason why necromancy is considered one of the most taboos of spells or art of magic to dwell upon. Also you're low on Negativity, depleted after your csh with Lady Blue. But luckily for you, by you lingering here, the Brand has passively force you to absorbed the warehouse's surface negativity, restoring you to 29,766 units. But like I said, even the cheapest necromancy spell demands at least 50,000 units, given that interfering with the dead is always costly]

Nier's crimson eyes narrowed, his needle-like teeth glinting as he processed Silence's words.

The warehouse's surface negativity, born of years of murder, torture, and despair, was a feast, but not enough to bridge the gap.

His mind churned, weighing the cost against the flickering hope in El's tear-streaked eyes and the desperate offer of Alle's ghostly soul.

'Could my body withstand the strain?'

He wondered, a flicker of doubt creeping into his resolve.

  'Silence.'

He mentally growled, and then he continued.

'Didn't you mentioned a daily supply of 288 units. What happened to those?'

[I've preserved them, encapsuted, but they're random and scattered. Even absorbing five days’worth, 1,440 units, wouldn't cover the cost]

Nier's wings twitched, irritation sparking in his chest.

  "…"

  […]

Silence remained silent, awaiting his next move.

He sighed, a harsh, rumbling sound.

'Fine. One more thing...can I absorb this pce's negativity without losing myself? Will I stay… sane?'

  […]

The pause was heavy, unnerving. But Silence answered nonetheless. But it was not what

[I don't have an answer, Master. This warehouse alone holds +350,938 units of negativity, more than you've ever absorbed or held. I cannot predict what it will do to you]

Nier's eyes widened, his breath catching.

That much in a single pce? The sheer scale of it was staggering, intoxicating even.

  'Holy shit, are you serious?'

  [Yes, Master]

He hesitated, his gaze drifting to El, crumpled on the blood-slicked floor, and Alle's ghost, hovering with pleading silver eyes. The distant wail of police sirens grew louder, a reminder of the ticking clock.

But the answer was clear despite the danger.

As he smile like a mad man... Well monsterous looking bird.

'If I'm ever going to surpass Lady Blue, I need to shed every weakness.'

  He thought, resolve hardening.

'Starting with the fear of losing control... Ahhh Fuck it!! Sanity is so overrated anyways. If I am to match camities like her, I'll take it all. Drain this pce dry, Silence. Let its filth become my strength.'

[It is not advisable, but I shall follow your orders, Master]

With that Silence began to follow suit, as it start absorption process.

The air soon after began shimmered, then darkened, as if reality itself recoiled in utter disgust.

Bck energy rose like smoke from the blood-stained floor, the rusted walls, the shattered crates...tendrils of shadow curling upward, drawn to Nier like moths to a fme.

The Negativity, normally invisible, was so vast, so concentrated, that it took on a faint, spectral form, a light-devouring haze that writhed and pulsed.

Even El, ignorant of Nier's actions, sensed it.

Her tear-blurred eyes widened as she glimpsed a ghostly shade forming around the great bird, a flickering, inky aura that wasn't quite clear but undeniable there, like a stain on the world itself.

She clutched Alle's body tighter, her breath hitching, unable to comprehend the nightmare unfolding before her.

As a cool breeze blow at her at a constant.

Nier's scales parted, exposing the soft, bck flesh beneath, where veins of white Gaian energy glowed and twisted.

The bck energy flooded into him, pouring through his feathers, his skin, his very soul, everywhere!!!...

Even Mnemosyne Brand burned hotter, a searing pulse that felt like it might split his chest open, as the brand was getting corrupted alongside Nier.

And with the negativity came the memories...hundreds, thousands, a deluge of atrocities so vile they cwed at his mind like ravenous beasts.

He was a woman, bound and gagged, her screams muffled as masked men carved her open, harvesting her organs while she still breathed.

He was a child, cowering in a corner as fmes consumed the warehouse, the stench of burning flesh choking his lungs.

He was a man, betrayed by his own son, his throat slit for a handful of coins, his blood pooling where Alle's now y.

He was the torturer, the murderer, the rapist... All ughing as he broke bodies, reveling in their pain. He was the victim, the perpetrator, the witness, all at once, each memory a bde twisting in his psyche.

Nier's wings spasmed, his talons digging into the rubble as he staggered under the weight. His vision fractured, the warehouse blurring into a kaleidoscope of horrors, fshes of severed limbs, screams of agony, eyes wide with betrayal.

  "No… no…

He growled, his voice a guttural snarl, but the memories kept coming. A mother's wail as her child was torn from her arms. A man's ughter as he doused a bound prisoner in gasoline. The sickening crunch of bones under a hammer. Each event was his, lived through his eyes, his hands, his soul. The Negativity didn't just feed him, it consumed him, rewriting his thoughts, his essence, yet it find hard to break his will, no Nier resisted, and resisted, he refused to become anything other than him.

Stubbornness was his greatest trait as a mere human after before he became what he is now.

His mind screamed, a cacophony of voices, his own, and those of the warehouses many victims. Kill them. Break them. Make them suffer. The urges weren't his, but they felt like his, burrowing into his consciousness like parasites.

His needle-like teeth ground together, sparks flying as he fought to hold onto himself.

  'I'm Nier... I'm Nier... I'm Nier....

But the line between him and the horrors blurred.

He saw himself grinning, blood dripping from his cws, reveling in the carnage. Was that a memory, or a desire?

El gasped, her voice barely a whisper.

  "What… what's happening?"

The shade around Nier grew darker, more defined, a writhing mass of bck tendrils that seemed to pulse with the screams of the damned.

She didn’t understand, couldn't understand, but the sight of it, of him, sent a chill through her battered body.

The Flux's form twitched, its wings shuddering as if in pain, its crimson eyes flickering between lucidity and something darker, something unhinged.

Nier's ughter erupted, a jagged, nightmarish sound that echoed through the warehouse, grating against the silence.

  "More… give me more!"

Drunk on power and in constant physical and mental pain, his desire alone held him as him.

  "MORRRRREEE!!...

He roared, his voice splitting into a chorus of discordant tones, as if the voices of the dead spoke through him. The Negativity surged, a tidal wave of filth that flooded his veins, his Gaian energy veins fring so brightly they burned through his scales, casting eerie shadows across the walls.

His mind fractured further, memories of torture blending with his own thoughts.

"I could kill her. I could kill them all. Rip their souls apart and feast."

The thought felt foreign, yet intoxicating, a dark seed taking root.

He staggered, one talon gouging the concrete deeper than the other, sending sparks flying.

  "No… I am in control!"

Nier growled, his voice a guttural snarl that echoed through the warehouse, a desperate anchor to his fraying identity.

A fragment of himself that fought back, and it fought fiercely, cwing against the tide of negativity that surged through his veins, threatening to drown his mind.

But the negativity was relentless, a living entity that sank its talons into his sanity, twisting his desires into something monstrous.

His crimson eyes flickered, locking onto Alle's ghostly form, her silver eyes wide with fear.

For a fleeting, horrifying moment, he wanted to tear her apart, to consume her soul as a ravenous offering to his growing power.

His gaze shifted to El, crumpled and bleeding on the blood-slicked floor, her tear-streaked face etched with grief. Dark, vile impulses surged within him, images of her screams joining the warehouse's chorus of anguish, her body broken under his cws. Worse, a sickening urge pulsed through him... to viote her, to cim her in the most depraved way, to sire endless kin in a grotesque mockery of creation. The thought wasn't his, yet it felt like his, a poison seeping from the negativity's depths.

  "We must…

He rasped, his voice splintering, as if the words were torn from a throat no longer entirely his own.

  "Yes I see…

A voice answered, not from the warehouse but from within the fractured ndscape of his mind.

A vision unfurled, a nightmare made real.

A bck goat goddess loomed before him, her form both majestic and grotesque, seated in a colossal rocking chair within a familiar, shadowed cabin.

The ground breathe, and the tree squirm. Her four glowing eyes burned with a twisted pride, her four arms folded across her chest.

Unlike before, when her full goat form was sleek and hairless, she now bore a mane of coarse, bck fur that cascaded down her shoulders, radiating an aura of raw, terrifying power.

Her golden hooves tapped rhythmically against the floor with each rock of the chair.

  "I see…

She said, her voice a low, sultry as her words slithered through his mind like smoke.

"So, you've finally taken the first major step in your vessel's evolution, darling. Mmm, that is good. I expected this in a month, perhaps two at most, but for it to happen in less than seven days? Truly marvelous."

Her glowing blood red eyes narrowed, a smile curling her lips, sharp and predatory, as she it with her seductive and inviting bck tongue.

And then she spoke once more.

"Hmmm, well then enjoy and embrace your new insight, darling. High corruption strengthens our avatar, as it brings the Avatar's mind closer to the higher pne. The fear of man, and their pain, it is like a drug like no other, intoxicating and pleasurable. What they see as horror, we see as ecstasy."

  As such he replied.

"Yes Mother... I will not fail you, filth Lust scums will pay for imprisoning they beauty."

"....mother ha!? Hahaha... How much corruption have you absorbed to perverse your mind so, well I don't discriminate, you can call me mommy too if you want, I will spoil you to no end either way."

The goddess's words were a siren’s call, urging him to surrender to the corruption, to revel in the chaos. His mind teetered on the edge, the line between Nier and the monster within growing ever thinner, as the warehouse's horrors and the goddess's seductive whispers threatened to remake him into something far darker than he had ever intended.

  "Mother is Mother."

"Hmmm... Maybe this will remind you."

Kaly got up, grab Nier consciousness minds, and gave him a deep kiss, her long bck, soft, warm and spongy tongue invades his mouth and throat, as they kiss with passion.

Then Nier minds return full as he look at Kaly and said.

  "Kaly...

  "Your back good."

"Am I... in the immaterial Sphere!?"

"Your mind cross over for a bit, however it won't be for long. It's already being force out."

  "Why!?"

Nier asked, to which Kaly responded.

"Nothing special really, you almost went fully insane due to overdosing on Negativity again, honestly I said there is nothing wrong in upgrading ones vessel. However take it easy, too much, and you will destroy your body in the process, your eldritch mind is different from your human, and I love the human you, that's why when I remade you into my apostle it was the only thing that I kept during the rebirth process."

  "I see, ahhh...

Nier groaned as the world started to distort and colpse.

"It would seem you have run out of time, well either way darling I will see you back at home."

With that Nier open his eyes, and as of right now he was back in the warehouse, his mind stable now thanks to Kaly.

  But that begs the question.

'What did she do to me!?'

As though, before he could ponder further.

Silence spoke, as he could feel his veins moving again.

[You have absorbed +350,938 units, when added to the existing 29,766 units, you now have a totaling amount of +380,704 units of Negativity]

Power, vast and overwhelming, surged through Nier's body, a torrent far greater than he had ever generated or held naturally.

It was as if the warehouse's 350,938 units of negativity, now fused with his existing 29,766 units, had remade him into something more...as though words alone could scarcely capture the sensation...a euphoric, electric rush, it was intoxicating, a high that drowned out the screams of his fracturing mind.

  "I feel great… super great."

Nier rasped, his voice a distorted blend of his own and something darker, a manic edge cutting through his words. His crimson eyes burned brighter, as if the negativity had ignited a fire within him.

He swayed atop the rubble, wings twitching erratically, his ughter a jagged, unhinged cackle that echoed through the warehouse.

Yet, amidst the chaos, Nier's comprehension expanded.

Normally, he relied on Silence to guide his spellcraft, but now, their connection deepened, their minds entwining in a way that felt both intimate and profane.

One will, two souls, a singur existence, Nier and Silence were no longer distinct. As he spoke, his voice carried Silence's cold, mechanical precision, a dual resonance that vibrated with otherworldly power.

"[Calcuting optimal route. Notice! 7,937,902 imaginary scenarios processed in seven microseconds. Target identified. Viable spell comprehended. Now creating the appropriate necromancy spell: Soul Stay Spell. Cost: 70,260 units of Negativity. Remaining total: 310,444 units]"

The spell took shape in his mind, a ttice of dark energy designed to tether Alle's soul back to her body.

But the act felt wrong, perverse, a viotion of death itself, twisted by the corruption that now coursed through him.

His eyes then looked at Alle's body.

He then looked at El and said.

  "Child."

  "Ahhh yes...

"Bring me the girl, I will now bring her back to life."
