  That woman was definitely crazy, as she threw Li headfirst at me. Wasn't she bothered about what was gonna happen to her kid if I didn't catch her ?

  "What the ?"

  "Just put her in the sofa and come with me."

  I agreed and did as she asked, after all, there wasn't much I could do at this point. Pretty sure even if I tried to run, that weird ability of hers would just allow her to catch me. What a predicament I was in.

  I followed her into a room deep in the library. As she flipped the light switch in the room, I could see some sorts of symbols drawn on the floor. Those were really some fancy circles and triangles. What else do I expect from... what was it ? A 1200 year old witch or something ...

  "I'll put it bluntly, why did you not fight back against that alter ego user ?"

  Again, terms I had no idea about. What the hell is an alter ego user ? What does that even mean ?

  "Alter Ego User ?"

  She paused for a moment, tilting her head sideway. She was clearly confused about my ck of knowledge.

  "I see, so she didn't tell you."

  "You see, all those apostles guys have that one common traits with their abilities. It also has to do with why they were cursed in the first pce. Those gods are very cunning, you know, they purposely chose vunerable people that have given up on their humanity. Then, they give them the final push by giving them an ability that make them godlike."

  "I don't follow you. Why would gods do that and that woman didn't seem vulnerable at all ! I definitely can believe she gave up on being human though ! I mean , who kills people as if it means nothing ?"

  "The answer is very simple, you'd be surprised. To them, we're probably nothing but pawns in their own little twisted game, they aren't bound by moral concepts after all. I don't think you'd have to worry about running into too many apostles though, according to my research, it shouldn't be time yet. As for Alter Ego, it is a state separated from the self that grants you power in exchange for a great sacrifice. There's a high chance the personality of that dumb woman isn't this one to begin with and that the alter has completely overtaken her mind. That's the risk with that kind of power, it could easily erase your sense of self."

  "What do you mean ?"

  "In one year from now, the world as we know it will end... Doesn't one these books humans wrote mention that ? Pretty sure that book was reted to your people as well."

  "Huh ?"

  "Something about an Apocalypse or something... "

  This woman was saying some pretty heavy stuff that were hard for me to process at the moment. The world ending in one year ? I call bullshit.

  "Those circles on the ground are the fruit of my century long research. You could even say all this knowledge makes me almost omnipotent. Feel free to praise me, kid."

  I definitely understood where Li got those annoying genes from. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree as they say. Still, all this information was kinda hard to process.

  "Now that all that has been said and done, I think it's time I fix you."

  "I mean, you could have beat her easily, it's unbelivable for a creature like you to be so weak. Especially with all this karmic energy. You have enough to run an entire power pnt by yourself. I'd say you were most likely raised by a human who had no idea about that stuff and that resulted in you being such a failure."

  Just thinking about that drunkard was enough to make my blood boil. In the first pce, who the hell drinks whisky every hour of the day ? I can smell his foul nature just thinking about it.
